Fears and phobias of our children: how to help and reduce their fear by speaking French in London



For French children in London, I practice hypnosis sessions to help them eliminate a fear or phobia. Your child is growing up and certain situations or objects can scare him.

Fear of the dark, fear of monsters, fear of certain animals, spiders or dogs. There are fears that cause nightmares and also fears that become a handicap during the day or can lead to dangerous situations. For example, a child or adolescent who can no longer move forward on the sidewalk because there is a dog passing or who could cross the road to avoid the dog paralyzed by fear, the brain goes into flight mode and the child does not is more aware that he could put himself in danger by crossing the road without paying attention to cars. Or simply no longer being able to go for a walk in the park or with friends who have dogs can be situations for parents to resolve. Our children's mimicry: a parent often transmits their own fears. A dad who is afraid of dogs passing near his child, through his attitude will transmit this feeling of danger to the child. A mother who is disgusted and panicked by an insect can also transmit these feelings to her child. If our children are French and live in London Fear is a very strong emotion in children; they will find it easier to get rid of it if they feel safe with a professional who speaks to them in their mother tongue.


Managing phobias in children in London, hypnosis as a solution using French?

Phobias are even more difficult to manage. Hypnosis helps the child to take a step back from what terrifies them and, in several stages, to gain perspective in order to reduce this phobia. Phobias are different from fears: it is the anxiety in the child that favors them, but also heredity or being born from a traumatic event (a bad encounter with an aggressive animal that has bitten).



How to react and support as a parent?

Like any emotion, fear should not be minimized in a child. His immature brain does not have the capacity to analyze whether or not he is right to be afraid, he experiences a real feeling of insecurity at that moment. In a positive and caring education, it will always be necessary to validate the emotion and support it in verbalizing (“I see that you are afraid”). The child must feel listened to and understood to calm down. We can later explain in a calmer moment that the danger is not real and try to find arguments. How can hypnosis solve fears and phobias?

Hypnosis is particularly effective for treating fears and phobias; a single session is sufficient in the vast majority of cases that I have followed. Hypnosis speaks directly to the unconscious of the child or adolescent, the mind is calmed in withdrawal, which leaves room to implement strategies to eliminate fear. For this type of session, the child or adolescent is accompanied by the parent(s). An initial discussion of 20-30 minutes takes place to clearly define the problem and its origin. Then the work under hypnosis with the child or teenager can begin. In order to calm and secure, an imaginary connection or a “safe place” is often used. Imaginary stories or tales can be used to give a new perspective on fears. Example of propocoles also used: using the hands, used like a scale, to weigh the weight of the fear, or the projection of the phobia on a screen to help the child to dissociate.
